Preview: Peterborough United vs Leeds United –Prediction, Team News, Line-ups

The FA Cup third round fixtures continue on Sunday as Leeds United face off Peterborough United in an exciting fixture at the London Road.

The Whites registered a comfortable 3-0 victory over Birmingham City in their most recent game, while Peterborough outclassed Derby County in League One on New Year’s Day.

Match Preview

Peterborough came close to sealing Championship promotion last term after they made it to the play-offs semi-final.

But their promotion dreams were shattered by Sheffield Wednesday who incredibly beat them in the semi-final tie despite losing the first-leg by 4-0.

The Posh are aiming to make it to the English second-tier once again and have done an impressive job so far.

They are currently on a 10-game unbeaten streak in all competitions and are occupying the third spot in League One, having secured 49 points from 25 matches.

Peterborough’s most recent fixture saw them winning 3-2 over Derby County on Monday.

Darren Ferguson’s side looked to be losing when Derby were 2-1 ahead early in the second-half, but a late comeback saw Kwame Poku and Ricky-Jade Jones scoring to help the visitors to a thrilling success.

On the other hand, Leeds United returned to winning ways in the Championship last weekend at the expense of Birmingham City.

Patrick Bamford provided his side the first breakthrough before Daniel James added another on the stroke of half-time.

Crysencio Summerville got on the scoresheet on 67 minutes as the Whites sealed an easy 3-0 win at Elland Road.

The result means Leeds are now fourth in the Championship table, with 48 points from their opening 26 matches.

However, they are still seven points behind second-placed Ipswich Town.

Daniel Farke’s side will now turn their focus to the FA Cup, where they suffered elimination in the fifth round last season following the 2-0 defeat to Fulham.

Team News

Peterborough don’t have any notable injuries this weekend. Manager Darren Ferguson will likely feature the same team that beat Derby last time at the Pride Park Stadium.

Meanwhile, Leeds United will be missing several players due to injury issues this weekend, including Luke Ayling, Jamie Shackleton, Pascal Struijk, Stuart Dallas and Sam Byram.
