Preview: Coventry City vs Leeds United – Prediction, Team News, Line-ups

Leeds United return to Championship action on Saturday afternoon as they make the trip to Coventry City in an exciting away fixture.

The Whites are aiming for an immediate Premier League return but face tough competition from Leicester City and Ipswich Town for the automatic promotion spots.

Match Preview

Coventry were on a three-game winning streak before their home encounter with Cardiff City on Monday.

However, they slumped to a disappointing 2-1 defeat after two own-goals from Laim Kitching, with Ellis Simms lone strike serving as a minor consolation for the hosts.

Mark Robins’ side have to play against Manchester United in the FA Cup later this month, but they cannot let that distract them from their promotion ambitions.

They are currently four points off sixth-placed Norwich City but have played a game less than the Canaries.

On the other hand, Leeds returned to winning ways at the expense of Hull City in their most recent Championship outing.

Sam Byram scored the opening goal after nine minutes, but Fabio Carvalho levelled the scores with an excellent finish before the interval.

The Whites squandered some great chances in the second-half before Crysencio Summerville scored the winner from the spot after he was fouled by Regan Slater.

The result leaves them a point behind leaders Ipswich Town and one ahead of Leicester City, albeit the Foxes have an extra game in hand.

Team News

Coventry boss Mark Robins will be dealing with a few injury woes this weekend as he won’t be able to call upon the services of Jamie Allen and Tatsuhiro Sakamoto due to fitness issues.

As for Leeds, Stuart Dallas, Pascal Struijk and Wilfried Gnonto will remain on the sidelines as they are yet to recover fully. The availability of Ilia Gruev is also doubtful but he could be part of the squad in an unexpected boost for the Whites
