Leeds United have been linked with a move for Newcastle United star Sean Longstaff.
The 26-year-old has been a key part of Eddie Howe’s team this season, featuring in 25 Premier League matches and scoring four goals.
But with his contract running out in the summer of 2025, Newcastle could be willing to cash-in on him at the end of the campaign.
Leeds will make a move for the midfielder in the summer transfer window but only if they manage to earn promotion to the English top-flight, per the Sunday Mirror (17/03/24, page 66).
A deal for the English footballer is expected to cost them £15 million.
Sean Longstaff is an academy product of Newcastle, making his competitive first-team debut against Nottingham Forest in August 2018.
The midfielder has since been an important member of the Magpies team as he has earned 172 appearances across all competitions, with 25 goal contributions to his name.
The 26-year-old would be an excellent acquisition for the Whites. He is young and has proven his skills in the Premier League.
Longstaff is a box-to-box midfielder who can score goals but is also capable of operating more defensively in front of the back four.
The Yorkshire outfit are currently favourites to secure automatic promotion from the Championship this season.
They beat Millwall 2-0 on Sunday to overtake Leicester City in the standings, albeit the Foxes still have a game in hand.
